Winter Retreat 2008 Ski/Tubing Options: Discovery Lessons If you have never been skiing, we highly recommend that you take the Discovery Ski/board lesson which is a learning center approach to teaching you how to ski/board. You will work through stations until you master the station, then you move on to the next station. At the completion of the course, the ski instructor takes you up on the mountain for your first run. It is a work at your own pace teaching method. The average student masters the class in about 4 hours leaving them with 2-3 hours to run the slopes. One Hour Refresher Lessons If you have been on the slopes before but it has been a while, we recommend that you choose a one hour lesson to refresh your skills. What do I need? This year, Big Boulder has changed their way of doing things. They used to offer packages to students. They no longer do so. To ski or board, you must buy a lift ticket, rent your equipment if you do not own any, and if you need instruction, you must buy that also. You don't want the Bear teaching you how to ski or board! Tubing: Tubing is a blast. This year, Big Boulder has raised the price so we are only considering all day tubing passes. We will not be able to have extra passes for those who might want to try tubing. You may not wear ski boots to tube. You must sign release forms which may require parent signature. These forms release Big Boulder from responsibility in the event of injury. (if there is snow, we will all tube at Streamside on their tubing run Sunday afternoon!)
